☆ KÖLN, GERMANY☆ August 22th.

Köln/ Cologne Cathedral took over 600 years to build. That's a long time but I'd say it was worth it! This majestic feat of gothic architecture is currently the tallest twin-spired church in the world, and attracts thousands of visitors every single day.

We explored the vibrant city of Cologne yesterday, and I found entering the cathedral to be a breath of fresh air in a bustling and busy centre, hazed by 30 degrees celsuis heat.

.

Everytime I go to a big city I love heading into cathedrals or open churches. The acoustics, the architecture, they remind me that there is something bigger than me at work, and I find these places offer a moment of peace, or serenity. I can draw energy here before I carry on exploring! Following this we discovered the trendy Belgian quarter, old town ( or not-so-old: it was rebuilt after WW2) and riverside area.

Do you have any favourite churches around the world, any you find especially beautiful, or that are significant to you?
