Brits in Tenerife...

“…but, i’faith you have drunk too much canaries, and that’s a marvelous searching wine, and it perfumes the blood ere one can say: what’s this?”

- William Shakespeare, Henry IV

“I love Tenerife, it’s like my second home. I’ve been hundreds of times already… ”

- An aeroplane acquaintance from Essex

Clearly, it seems Brits have been obsessing over Tenerife and the Canary Islands for quite some time, whether for the Malvasia wine which seduced Shakespeare, the clear skies perfect for observing the cosmos, or the stretches of sun drenched beaches.

I am no exception, I’ll admit. I am part British after all, and I seem to have also fallen under the spell of the Canaries.

There’s far more to this rugged Atlantic archipelago than just wine and sunshine (although those are very important) though, as I hope to share in some upcoming posts…
