A Philippian Fox.



Bar a few snails and the odd millipede, introducing the last remaining citizen of Philippi. This wild fox stared at me as I photographed it with a squeal of domestic excitement. It gave me a quizzical gaze, with possibly a subtle hint of righteous irony.

It seems human buildings and grand visions are pretty ephemeral. Snails and foxes were here long before the first settlers of Philippi, and are happily squatting its ruins long after they have gone. Some food for thought from a fox...
